BURGER IN A BOWL

I'm going to make a bold statement and say after trying this, you won't miss the bun. Luckily there are decent gluten free hamburger buns on the market now, but sometimes they're hard to come by, expensive or you just don't feel like having a bun and that's where Burger in a Bowl comes into play! I personally don't eat beef that's in typical hamburgers, so I do turkey burgers, but feel free to use beef, ground chicken, beyond meat or whatever you prefer! These are so full of flavor and honestly I could drink the burger sauce. Yep, really, it's that good.

What You'll Need:

• 1 pound ground turkey (93/7)

• 1/2 package bacon

• 1 sweet potato

• Lettuce

• Mustard

• Mayo

• Ketchup

• 1/2 tsp paprika

• 1/2 tsp onion powder

• Dill Pickles

• Sweet Onion

• Cherry Tomatoes

• Avocado

• Avocado Oil

• Sharp Cheddar

• Salt & pepper

How To:

≥≥ Let's make some sweet potato fries! Wash and peel your sweet potato. Cut it into 1/4 inch thick strips (similar to fry style). In a cast iron or pan, heat up avocado oil and toss in your sweet potato fries. Leave them alone so they can form a crust. Once crunchy on one side - flip over. You can also do this step in the oven if you prefer!

≥≥ Cook your bacon how you like it - I like mine crispy for this recipe! Set it aside - we'll need it in a bit.

≥≥ Get the rest of your veggies and toppings prepped. Chop up some lettuce, your cherry tomatoes, sweet onion, avocado and shred some sharp cheddar.

≥≥ Let's make the infamous burger sauce! In a bowl, combine equal parts mayo, mustard and ketchup. I do heaping spoonfuls, but make as much as you like! Add in about 2-3 tbsp of finely chopped/minced dill pickle of your choice. Add in your paprika, onion powder plus some salt and pepper to taste and voila! I'll eat this on just about anything!

≥≥ Heat up your cast iron or pan with some avocado oil. Form medium sized meatball shapes with the turkey meat. I was able to get about 7 out of my 1 pound of turkey. Don't overcrowd your pan, do about 3 at a time. Place the turkey balls into the hot cast iron. Smash down with a spatula. Tip: use a piece of parchment paper between the patty and the spatula. It keeps it from sticking! Smash down super thin to make smashed burgers. On top of the raw side of the patty, drizzle yellow mustard, salt & pepper. Once a crust and browning forms on the bottom side, flip over and continue cooking for a few minutes until turkey is done and reaches 165º F.

≥≥ Assemble your bowls! I do lettuce, then my turkey patty, top with your bacon whole (or crumbled!), and the rest of your toppings. Drizzle with the burger sauce (extra on mine please!).
